Eye Makeup Essentials For 2014

People say eyes are the windows to your soul. It is also a popular opinion that your eyes are the first thing that get noticed when somebody looks at you. That’s why it is important to spend some time and effort into making sure that your eyes look great.

Here are two essential eye makeup products that will help your eyes look vibrant and beautiful!

Pencil Eye Liner
I never leave home without applying eyeliner, because my eyes are pretty small and I have literally received comments that I look sleep-deprived without it. Moodstruck Precision Pencil Eye Liner  is one of the best liners I've used in terms of precision, gliding on better than any other.
It’s not like most pencil eyeliners where a lot of product is wasted away when sharpening to attain a pointed nib. These eye liners come in a variety of colors such as prim, proper, presumptuous, pristine, passionate and precious. My personal favorite is the Perfect, which is a deep black color a with a very faint brown tone to it, just enough to break the bluntness of the black and make the eye makeup appear very natural. And the best part about it is that is doesn't smudge for hours after application.

It’s a neat little thing, accompanied by a compact case so that it can be carried around travel bags/clutches. For greater control and precision, a quick tip is to hold the pencil close to the nib for better stability. I would recommend this eyeliner to those who want sharp outlines and accurate application.

Mineral Pigment Powder
This is the perfect product for summer! Not only does it have a lightweight feel and subtle shimmer, but it also gives a fresh natural look. I would recommend Moodstruck Minerals Pigment Powders which are chemical-free, mineral-based pigment powders. They are also free of talc, oils, preservatives, perfumes, synthetic dyes, and parabens. The variety of shades available allow you to play with your look, giving you the freedom to choose between minimalist and daring looks. Another added advantage is that they’re super loaded with pigment, so you just have to use a small quantity to achieve a solid layered look.

Saturday Night : Black and Gold Eye Makeup

Saturday night, all right! Time to glam it up and go out to town.
So here's this quick tutorial on how to achieve this chic and glamorous black and gold makeup look with the Younique Moodstruck Mineral Pigments.
The colors are Confident, Corrupted, Daring and Irresistible.
With the Deluxe Brush apply the color Irresistible on the eye socket to the exterior corner and blend. With the same brush, get the Daring pigment and apply from the center of the lid to the exterior corner and blend again. With the Shader Brush get the pigment Confident and apply to the center of the lid and blend it to the interior corner of the eye. Still with the same brush, get a little bit of the Corrupted shade and apply in the outer corner of the eye, and blend it to the interior, to create a smudge with the Corrupted shade. Blend as much as possible, preferable with a cleaner Deluxe Brush (it's always better to have a clean spare brush to blend).
You can apply black eyeliner to intensify the look, or a black Khol pencil. Finish the look with a layer of the 3D Fiber Lashes. This is a look that goes well with a nude lipstick or rose/nude lip gloss.

Where to highlight the eyes

Here's a great tip for those who have small eyes or droopy eyes: where to apply the highlighter pigment. The ideal is to create a diagonal line illusion, from the inner corner, the center of the eyelid and brow bone, as you can see in the image.
Try the Younique Moodstruck Minerals Pigment Powder in the tone Curious to highlight your eyes without and blend it with the rest of the eyeshadow with the Younique Deluxe Brush for a natural yet gorgeous look.

4 Eye Makeup Mistakes You're Probably Making

NOT USING AN EYE PRIMER
The virtues of a pre-foundation primer have been drilled into us pretty hard by now, so why do so few of us utilize one for the eye, too? The premise holds up: a primer creates a barrier between product and skin, not only to keep it on for longer, but also for skin protection. Shadows, crèmes, pencils, and gels can be drying on the lid so for the best canvas possible (minus creases), apply a skin-smoothing primer.

NOT BLENDING EYE MAKEUP
Do you shy away from even trying a smoky eye look now because you just can’t get the colors blending right? For the perfect gradient (read: no muddiness between the shades), you can’t just use the same brush that you applied them with. Application brushes contain more densely packed fibers so that you can press color onto the lid for longevity, however a blending brushfeatures soft bristles in a dome shape, perfectly for sweeping color outwards, blending up into the crease or gently merging two shades.

NOT USING TAPE TO GET THE PERFECT CAT EYE
Liquid eyeliner is tricky, but if you’re spending four hours every Saturday night trying to match up your flicks to the perfect symmetrical degree, you are wasting your time. Even top makeup artists cheat with Scotch tape! It’s one of those duuuh tricks that once you start, you’ll never stop.

NOT USING THE RIGHT EYE MAKEUP REMOVER
Heavy removers that are sold on most shelves leave behind a “sludge” residue that sits on the top layer of your skin and can travel into your eye for a damaging effect. Also, any moisturizer or eye cream you spend the next five minutes carefully patting into your skin just can’t get through the heavy, oily film. Try this DIY: Natural Eye Makeup Remover that won't hurt your skin.
