The Truth Behind Mineral Makeup

Unlike the conventional formulations for commercial makeup brands, mineral makeup doesn't contain oils and waxes, preservatives, fillers and fragrance. What does it contain? Minerals such as iron oxides, talc, zinc oxide, and titanium dioxide that are micronized, or ground and milled, into tiny particles to create makeup.

How do these minerals benefit you? 

Acne: Instead of contributing to skin irritations like most makeup, mineral makeup actually HELPS clear acne and other skin irritations. The anti-irritating ingredients like zinc can be soothing to inflammation.

Pores: Since it's not loaded with fillers and preservative, there's a lot less "junk" to get clog your pores. Mineral makeup is light, allowing your skin to breathe.

Sun Protection: The FDA has approved zinc oxide as a skin protectant and titanium dioxide as a sunscreen. Mineral makeup contains both. While we don't recommend substituting it for sunscreen on a beach day, it will give your skin protection from UVs on a daily basis.

Natural, Daily Makeup Routine. How to do it by yourself!

Think you can’t pull off the natural, harmonious look, which puts your traits to value? To convince you that you can, we have prepared a step-by-step makeup tutorial, using only organic products, which will not only enhance your natural beauty, but will also keep your skin healthy!

Step 1

Start by applying base makeup, which in addition to offering a fresh complexion, protects against environmental aggressions. The base consists of applying foundation for smoothing and hiding imperfections. For a matte and velvety effect, try BB Flawless Complexion by Younique. Not only does it do the work of a moisturizer, primer and foundation, but it’s also 100% natural, which only makes things so much better! It can easily be applied with a sponge or a foundation brush, from the center to the sides of the face. At first, use only a small amount of product, then gradually add some more, depending on the effect you want to achieve.

Step 2

Although the BB Cream covers and evens the skin, you still might have a bit of shininess left. Therefore, our base makeup should also consist of a light powder with the role of setting in the foundation and removing shine. We recommend you apply the powder in a thin layer with a brush or a sponge, insisting around the eyes and on the eyelids to ease further application of eye shadow. We’ve chosen the Moodstruck Mineral Concealer, because it’s a mineral-based pigment powder that will not only remove shine and offer you a natural finish, but will also keep your face matte all day long, without harming your skin.

Step 3

Blush is a must-have in our makeup process, because it contours and helps emphasize your facial features. To give your skin extra radiance, use the Moodstruck Minerals Blusher, starting from the cheekbone and coming up easily to the temples with small, circular movements. As we know, different types of blushes should be used for different types of skin. If you have dry skin, use a foam or cream blush and if you have oily skin it’s best to use powder makeup.

Step 4

Eye makeup gives more expressiveness to your look and gives the whole makeup a lot more personality. The colors you chose depend on many things- eye color, what time of the day it is or what you’re wearing, but regardless of the colors you use, always keep in mind you should create a perfect harmony between them.
